Meet Jamie Watkins, LCSW
My name is Jamie Watkins, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly 20 years of experience. I earned my master’s degree from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts—one of the only social work programs focused on psychodynamic psychotherapy and social justice. I am bilingual in Spanish and English, and have lived abroad in several Spanish-speaking communities across Europe and South America. I became a therapist because I have always had a curiosity for what makes us as humans tick. As a fellow traveler on the path of growth and expansion, I have long felt attuned to the energetic and emotional states of others. Feelings—though often dismissed—shape everything: our health, our choices, our relationships, even our world. My career has spanned community mental health, hospital psychiatry, the foster care system, and private practice. Today, my passion is supporting people through life’s transitions—perimenopause and menopause, parenting, life adjustments, relationships, grief and issues of self-worth. As a professional, partner, mother of two, and writer, I also know the struggle of balancing competing demands. And I know the relief of being met with openness and safety. That is the therapist I strive to be. Outside of work, you’ll often find me in my garden, hanging out with my family or in my kitchen…trying to figure out what to make for dinner.
